Q: Is there anything that I can do to assure that I get the best spray tan?
A: Absolutely. One of the most important things that you must do is to thoroughly exfoliate before spray tanning. The shallower the dead skin layer on the surface of your skin, the more time it will take for this layer to build up before it starts rubbing off. That means the better the exfoliation, the more even your tan will be throughout its life and the longer it will last. The best exfoliation by far is with a spa grade Exfoliating Body Wash. Of course it is just as vital to moisturize every day after spray tanning to keep your skin from drying out and exfoliating prematurely.

A: Poison Ivy can be tricky, as it could potentially block pours that contain the poison ivy, which could cause some infection. Q: How long does the artificial tanning process take to develop?
A: The artificial tan takes 2 to 4 hours to begin appearing on the skin surface, and will continue to darken for 24 hours. Once the darkening effect has occurred, the tan will not sweat off or wash away with soap or water. It will fade gradually over 5 to 10 days, in conjunction with the skin's normal exfoliation process. Exfoliation, prolonged water submersion, or heavy sweating can lighten the tan, as these all contribute to rapid dead skin cell exfoliation (the dead skin cells are the tinted portion of the sunless tan.)

Q: What if I think my hands and feet look lighter than the rest of my body?
A: We usually prefer to go a little lighter on the hands and feet, elbows and knees. These areas look better with a lighter touch as the skin absorbs self tanner differently than the rest of your body. In our experience, if your spray tan has been applied properly - your friends will simply notice that you look great! However, if too much self tanner settles in your knuckles and between the fingers it can look glaringly fake. For this reason our technicians prefer to spray your hands and feet a little lighter than the rest of your body.
